Happy Employees, Happy Patients

Happy Wife, Happy Life | Happy Employees, Happy Patients – same same but different?

Whilst one of these statements clearly doesn’t rhyme, both share cause and effect. And whilst the first is mostly anecdotal (we can argue about that later), the second now has numerous studies supporting the theory.

Yep, you can stop calling it HR fluff ‘n’ stuff. Multiple, high validity, peer reviewed, quantitative studies show a direct correlation between investing in your employees and increased patient satisfaction.

Off the back of its 2019 study, Glassdoor|economic research found a strong connection between better customer and employee satisfaction and that it mattered for financial performance. “Our findings suggest employers who invest in employee satisfaction and improved workplace culture enjoy spillover benefits that go beyond talent attraction and retention.”

Blake Morgan, FORBES author and customer experience futurist writes, “There is an undeniable link between employee experience and customer experience. Companies that lead in customer experience have 60% more engaged employees, and study after study has shown that investing in employee experience impacts the customer experience and can generate a high ROI for the company.”

But of course this all makes sense, particularly in dentistry where staff and patient interaction occurs frequently. If our employees are miserable, insecure or indeed frightened in their workplace, it’s a sensation easily transferred to our patients. Conversely, if our employees feel safe, supported and at ease…you get the picture.

Whilst it’s not the only piece of the puzzle, if there was ever an argument to be equally patient and employee focussed, this is it.

So, create workplaces that support your employees, are fun and enriching. Your patients will thank you for it.
